Preparing for the Future Today: Flood-Resilient Lift Stations
After Hurricane Matthew hit, Hazen provided engineering services to the City of St. Augustine for fast-tracked rehabilitation, repair, and replacement of 13 lift stations to ensure fully operational, flood-resilient facilities and uninterrupted service during future storm events.
Project Outcomes and Benefits
- Services included damage assessment, cost estimating, design, support for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reimbursement, regulatory permitting, and construction administration.
- Final design drawings and specifications were developed in conjunction with the Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMAR) to construct this $14 million project in just 21 months.
- CMAR’s use of caisson and tremie concrete construction for the wetwells reduced construction cost and schedule.
