John W. Fortin Joins Hazen as Senior Associate

(BOSTON, MA – December 10, 2025) - Hazen and Sawyer has announced the appointment of John W. Fortin, CMRP, CRL, ASP as a Senior Associate based in Boston, MA.

John is an operational and reliability excellence practitioner with nearly 40 years of facility lifecycle experience including design, construction, and operations and maintenance. He has worked for both utilities and consultants, developing and implementing effective organizational change management programs necessary to support a culture of sustainable operational excellence. John provides a practitioner’s view to clients, sharing his successes at designing and implementing the award-winning Facilities Asset Management Program at the 1,000-mgd Deer Island Treatment Plant and the three-time award-winning Sustainable Water Infrastructure Management Program for the Salem and Beverly Water Supply Board’s 18-mgd Water Filtration Plant. These projects resulted in reduced costs, increased reliability and availability, and a shift from reactive to proactive work practices.

John is internationally recognized for his leadership in strategy development, implementation, and change management approaches. He has led and continues to coach and mentor team members in the development and implementation of operations, asset management, and reliability best practices and has helped organizations win international awards. A published author, John utilizes the DELTA FORCE model of innovative techniques to provide sustainable change to strategic programs and initiatives.

John earned his bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He has long been active in industry organizations, serving as past Asset Management Committee Chair for the New England Water Environment Association. He is a Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Reliability Leader (CRL), and a certified Drinking Water Operator in the state of Massachusetts.
