Hazen to Lead Event on Optimizing Water Distribution Network Performance

Sessions will explore transformational approaches to address U.K. water system challenges

(LONDON, U.K. - April 24, 2025) – Hazen and Sawyer is hosting a one-day educational and networking event on May 13, 2025, aimed at providing U.K. water utility professionals with valuable insights into effective water distribution system management. Attendees will hear from industry experts on some of the most pressing challenges facing the U.K. water sector today and learn about real-world case studies in which utilities are exploring innovative solutions to improve water quality and solve for issues such as nitrification, discolouration, chemical optimization, and more.

This event comes at a time when the U.K. water sector is navigating increased scrutiny from regulators in response to water quality breaches and customer complaints. Water quality across England is heavily impacted by its distribution network. With the majority of compliance breaches occurring in water after it has made its way into distribution systems, ensuring that this network is proactively maintained and optimized for peak performance is vitally important.

Hear from and join in on discussions with leading experts from Hazen including Benjamin Stanford, PhD, William Becker, PhD, PE, BCEE, Meg Roberts, PE, and John Wylie, as well as Joby Boxall FREng of the University of Sheffield. You’ll gain practical knowledge on topics including:

  • The Unintended Impacts of Disinfection Residuals on Biofilms and Discolouration
  • Distribution System Water Quality Best Management Practices
  • Data Visualization Tools to Improve Network Management
  • Water in the Wrong Hue: Diagnosing Discolouration
  • Balancing Corrosion Control and Biofilm Chemistry
  • Existing and Emerging Distribution System Challenges
  • Water Quality and Compliance, Corrosion, Discoloured Water, and Data and Monitoring System Roundtables

This free event will be held at Watermen’s Hall in London. There is limited capacity, so be sure to register prior to May 2, 2025, to secure your seat.
