Hazen Names Kate Naughton Principal Engineer
Ms. Naughton most recently worked in the Dams and Hydraulics Section of a consulting engineering firm for more than seven years, where her duties included performing hydrologic, hydraulic, and safe yield studies for water resources infrastructure projects, as well as facilitating emergency action plans and exercises for high hazard dams.
(BALTIMORE, MD - December 14, 2020) - Hazen and Sawyer has announced the appointment of Kate Naughton PE, CFM as Principal Engineer.
Ms. Naughton most recently worked in the Dams and Hydraulics Section of a consulting engineering firm for more than seven years, where her duties included performing hydrologic, hydraulic, and safe yield studies for water resources infrastructure projects, as well as facilitating emergency action plans and exercises for high hazard dams.
In her previous role, she managed an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) program for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s portfolio of 80 hydropower dams within 20 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) projects to maintain compliance with FERC and State of California regulations. Ms. Naughton also supervised and acted as a lead facilitator for the California Department of Water Resources’ Oroville and Thermalito Facilities 2018 Annual EAP Seminar, the 2019 EAP Tabletop Exercise with record-breaking attendance, and the 2019 EAP Functional Exercise, which involved over 160 participants across eight locations.

Ms. Naughton received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Water Resources/Water Quality and minor in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2014. In addition to holding her Professional Engineering (PE) license in Pennsylvania, she is a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) and is active in multiple associations including the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO), United States Society on Dams (USSD), and Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM).
