Richard Pope Named Kappe Award Winner
(April 14, 2015 – NEW YORK, NY) – Richard Pope has been awarded the 2015 Stanley E. Kappe Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineering and Scientists (AAEES).
An internationally recognized expert, Mr. Pope has conducted site odor assessment surveys at more than 250 municipal and industrial facilities. He has personally been involved in the planning and design of more than 230 odor control systems during his 36-year career.
Mr. Pope has been a contributing author on multiple Water Environment Federation Manual of Practice odor-related text books and also acts as a reviewer for Water Environment Research Foundation odor research studies. He has made more than 100 presentations at local, state, federal and international conferences/workshops and universities.
In addition to serving as the head of odor control services for Hazen and Sawyer, he also serves as Chair of the AAEES K-12 Committee that aims to educate young students about opportunities and lifelong careers in environmental engineering and science.
The Kappe Award is presented to the Board Certified Environmental Engineer or Scientist who has performed extraordinary and outstanding service contributing to significantly increased awareness of AAEES objectives among the public.
