John Fortin Selected for WEF House of Delegates
(NEW YORK, NY – October 9, 2014) – John Fortin of Hazen and Sawyer has been appointed the New York Water Environment Association (NYWEA) representative to the Water Environment Foundation (WEF) House of Delegates.
NYWEA solicited their membership for candidates for the Delegate position and a special committee selected Mr. Fortin for the position. The term is for three years and includes membership on the NYWEA board.
The duties of the WEF House of Delegates include representing the interest of their respective Member Associations and advising the Board of Trustees on strategic direction, policies, and initiatives of WEF.
Mr. Fortin’s selection marks another milestone in his participation in both WEF and NYWEA, and in Hazen and Sawyer’s continued support of both organizations. For the past several years, Mr. Fortin has managed the Operations Challenge at the NYWEA Spring Meeting. He served as the NYWEA Metropolitan Chapter chair in 2002, is the current chair of the Metropolitan Chapter Awards and Journal Committee, and is an active member of the Wastewater Facilities Committee.
For 23 years, Hazen and Sawyer has sponsored the NYWEA Operations Challenge. Most recently, Hazen and Sawyer staff conducted over 20 presentations at WEFTEC 2014 and have made significant contributions to two recent WEF publications.
Since our founding in 1951, Hazen and Sawyer has focused on two things: providing safe drinking water and controlling water pollution. Our range of services encompasses the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater-related projects – from clean water treatment, storage, and distribution to wastewater and stormwater collection, treatment, and reuse.
