Skimming the Surface: Options for Solids and Floatables Control

More than 700 U.S. cities nationwide have combined-sewer systems. In recent years, there has been a flurry of consent orders and similar agreements requiring wastewater collection system operators to bring combined-sewer overflows (CSOs) into compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 1994 Combined Sewer Overflow Control Policy and the Guidance for Nine Minimum Controls (NMC).
Many of these orders include provisions to control solids and floatables (S&F) from CSOs.
