(SAN DIEGO, CA – November 18, 2013) – Hazen and Sawyer announced today the appointment of Kevin L. Alexander, P.E., as Vice President and Regional Manager of the Firm’s West Region.
Alexander has more than 18 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of advanced water, wastewater, and water reclamation facilities. His work has included providing technical direction and assistance on cutting-edge advanced treatment technology research projects. He has led the pilot and demonstration testing of various treatment processes including ozone, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, and concentrate treatment. He has extensive experience in procurement and contract negotiation for more than 30 membrane systems including MF, RO, and MBR systems. He has been the lead membrane process and design expert on some of the most prominent indirect potable reuse projects in the U.S. and is currently applying his technical expertise to several direct potable reuse efforts.
Alexander will maintain both project and technical leadership within the Firm. In addition to overseeing the Firm’s existing offices in California and Arizona, he will also open and manage a new San Diego office, Hazen and Sawyer’s third in California.
“Kevin’s combination of strategic vision, technical expertise, and project leadership has long been a valued asset to municipalities managing strained water resources,” said Charlie Hocking, Hazen and Sawyer’s President and CEO. “We are excited to have him join the Hazen and Sawyer team.”
“Hazen and Sawyer’s strong treatment experience and research portfolio, coupled with my advanced treatment background, make the Firm a great fit for the challenges we’re facing in California and Arizona,” said Alexander. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to tap into this wealth of knowledge and experience to find innovative solutions to address the widening gap between limited supplies and increasing demand.”
Throughout his career, Alexander has led strategic business development and client services with a commitment to ensuring the highest quality product. From conducting feasibility/planning studies, developing treatment process evaluations, participating in value engineering studies and providing operations insight, he has a complete view of projects. He has experience with many different project delivery methods including design-bid-build, CM at risk, alliance contracting, design-build, and design-build-operate.
Alexander received a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (previously the University of Missouri-Rolla). He is also an active member of several industry associations, including AWWA (both nationally and within the CA-NV chapter), WateReuse Association (both nationally and within the CA and AZ WateReuse Association), and WEF.
