City of Sunrise Sawgrass Utility Complex
(HOLLYWOOD, FL – July 22, 2010) – City of Sunrise has selected Hazen and Sawyer to provide continuing professional engineering consulting services for the City Utilities Department. Hazen and Sawyer has been working for the City since 2004 on a wide array of engineering assignments as the City’s general wastewater consultant.
Under this contract with a base term of five years, Hazen and Sawyer will partner with the City to perform general engineering consulting services in support of planned infrastructure improvements to the City’s water, wastewater, and natural gas utilities. The City’s main objective is the implementation of an adopted 20-year Water and Wastewater Master Plan (2008 Master Plan).
Hazen and Sawyer’s anticipated responsibilities include completing key projects identified within the 2008 Master Plan and the Capital Improvement Program Budget (CIP) and providing related engineering duties necessary to support daily operations. Consulting services to be provided will range from the preliminary design stages to construction management services. The initial five-year phase of the 2008 Master Plan includes approximately $230 million in water and wastewater improvements.
Encompassing approximately 70 square miles, the Sunrise utility system serves approximately 200,000 residential and commercial customers. The system consists of over 500 miles of water distribution mains, over 600 miles of sewer piping, 200 wastewater pump stations, three water treatment facilities, four water re-pump facilities and three wastewater treatment facilities.
Since our founding in 1951, Hazen and Sawyer has focused on two things: providing safe drinking water and controlling water pollution. Our range of services encompasses the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater-related projects – from clean water treatment, storage, and distribution to wastewater and stormwater collection, treatment, and reuse.
