(HOLLYWOOD, FL – August 26, 2010) – The City of Hialeah has once again selected Hazen and Sawyer as their general consultant for engineering and architectural services associated with planning, design, and/or construction management projects. Hazen and Sawyer will continue to assist the City with the management of their extensive water and sewer infrastructure, performing assignments such as new pump station designs, program management services for pump station improvements, and continued Infiltration and Inflow (I&I) reduction programs. The firm will also assist with permit reviews and inspections for the City’s reverse osmosis (RO) water plant.
Hazen and Sawyer has served as general consultant to the Hialeah Department of Water and Sewers since 2000. During this ten-year period, the firm has been involved with all aspects of the City’s sewer collection system, including pump station improvements, transmission pipeline designs, Infiltration and Inflow/Sewer System Evaluation Survey programs, and other engineering assignments. Hazen and Sawyer’s involvement helped reduce the City’s sewer flows into the Miami-Dade County system and facilitated compliance with consent orders issued by the State of Florida and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The City of Hialeah, the fifth most populous city in the State of Florida, owns and operates a complex wastewater collection system consisting of 83 pump stations, approximately 460 miles of gravity sewer mains and laterals ranging from 4 inches to 54 inches in diameter, and nearly 6,500 manholes. The force main network includes approximately 40 miles of pressurized pipe ranging from 4 to 24 inches in diameter. In addition, the City is building a new 4-mgd RO water plant and water supply system.
Since our founding in 1951, Hazen and Sawyer has focused on two things: providing safe drinking water and controlling water pollution. Our range of services encompasses the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater-related projects – from clean water treatment, storage, and distribution to wastewater and stormwater collection, treatment, and reuse.
