“Working at Hazen and Sawyer has been a tremendous opportunity to learn from senior engineers from a wide variety of disciplines. It has exceeded my expectations.”
I manage an advanced wastewater treatment project, constructing Biological Nutrient Removal upgrades at six wastewater treatment plants to meet increasingly stringent Nitrogen discharge regulations that are being phased in over a 15-year window.
It is my job to analyze and communicate the performance, schedule, and cost impacts of varying aspects of the program. We also analyze future regulations that may be on the horizon and the applicability of advanced technologies to meet these challenges.
After graduate school, I worked for a small firm for two years. I enjoyed the opportunity to interact directly with clients and manage projects from cradle to grave early in my career, but it was limiting in the scope of project and client a small firm can attract.
Working at Hazen and Sawyer has been a tremendous opportunity to learn from senior engineers with extensive experience in a wide variety of disciplines. It has exceeded my expectations; due to the nature of my project, I find myself constantly stimulated and constantly looking at fresh ideas to improve plant performance, accelerate construction completion, or reduce costs.
For the last four years, our plant process modeling has been shown to accurately simulate plant performance and project Nitrogen discharges at varying phases of construction. This is going to mean regulatory compliance for our client, and a cleaner, safer environment for the surrounding communities.
